The Forum for Good Governance and Shareholding, created by ATREVIA and the IESE Business School has delivered this morning in the Palacio de la Bolsa in Madrid the Forum for the Awards of Good Governance and Shareholding that in its third edition awarded Iberdrola and the Refinería La Pampilla (Repsol Peru) for their work related to minority shareholders. The ceremony was attended by the president of the CNMV (National Securities Market Commission), Elvira Rodríguez, together with the co-presidents of the Forum, Núria Vilanova (founder and president of ATREVIA) and José Ramón Pin (lecturer at the IESE Business School).
It was Ignacio Cuenca, director of Investor Relations with Iberdrola who came to collect the award for the Best Approach Initiative for Shareholders of Spanish listed companies, stated that “the shareholders of Iberdrola are situated in the centre of the strategy and the corporate governance system”, and this “is constantly updated and improved, by incorporating the best international practices”. The jury praised the initiative of the Shareholder Club whose main objective is to generate constant two-way communication with the small shareholders of the company.
For his part, Dante Blotte, CFO of Repsol Peru and responsible for Economic-Financial issues of La Pampilla was commissioned to collect the award for the Best Approach Initiative for Shareholders of Latin American listed companies. The manager said that this award “is a motive of high complacency” and it means “recognizing ongoing work”. La Pampilla developed a model of attention to the shareholder based in a multichannel platform of communication and feedback, key at the time of being recognized with this award.
The president of the CNMV, Elvira Rodríguez, closed the event and stated how initiatives like the Forum for the Awards of Good Governance “aim to seek and promote these companies that work to incorporate their corporate philosophy to the principles of good governance that are included in the new Code”.
Likewise, the co-president of the Forum, Núria Vilanova devoted a few words to the audience, saying that “the best way to motivate companies is the recognition of best practices. Therefore, we value the effort of each and the motivation of others to improve their companies”.
The Forum for Good Governance and Shareholding has established itself as a meeting point for professionals in the economic, corporate and institutional world. Its various studies and reports relating to good corporate governance have managed to disseminate and enhance good practices in this field.
