Núria Vilanova participated in the business summit, European Union (EU) – Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), EU-CELAC 2015, under the theme “Europe, Latin American and the Caribbean: promote integrated and sustainable growth by strengthening the role of small and medium companies”.
The president and founder of ATREVIA was the moderator of the workshop “SMEs’: what can they do to take advantage of commerce and investment opportunities?” During her presentation she assured that “in Latin America SME’s represent 80% of employment but at a percentage lower than GDP. Small and medium businesses are the great solution for the creation of employment. So we need more SME’s who are more productive, global and bigger”.
The EU-CELAC 2015 summit was held in Brussels and Belgium and it held the participation from the main European, Latin American and Caribbean leaders with the objective to strengthen relationship between both regions.
The director of ATREVIA in Brussels with the President of the Ecuadorian Republic
During the EU-CELAC 2015 summit, Ángel Rebollo, director of ATREVIA in Brussels held a meeting with the President of the Ecuadorian Republic and the current president of the CELAC, Rafael Correa Delgado who was responsible for opening the forum with Federica Mogherini, High Representative for the Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Union and vice-president of the European Union.
The second EU-CELAC Summit held a third of the total number of countries in the world. Correa stressed that Latin America and the Caribbean needs a level of development based on human talent, science and technology. “We should be more aggressive for the strong cooperation developing countries in the sense of giving easier access to science, technology, and knowledge generated especially in the most developed countries”, said the current president of the CELAC.
