Recently the final of The Venture Spain was celebrated, a competition which was organized by Chivas that met with the best social entrepreneurship projects in Spain. Five Spanish startups passed the national phrase and will now compete in the international phase.
Núria Vilanova, founder and president of ATREVIA, formed part of the Chivas Council, a panel of experts where personalities from the business world also participated world such as Antonio Fontanini (CEO of Erasmus Equities), Pedro Moneo (Founder and CEO of Opinno), Félix Lozano (founder and CEO of TEAMLABS) and Margarita Albors (founder of Socialnest). The role of this cast of professionals was to give advice to entrepreneurs and to share with them their experiences.
We attended the presentation of initiatives at the gala awards ceremony which was presented by Josef Ajram. Some interesting initiatives included that from AlzhUp, a platform that uses technologies in the aim to fights against Alzheimers disease and this project won this year’s national award. Finalists from other projects included, Lazzus (an app for people with visual disabilities that informs them of what is around them), Irisbond (a system that allows the control of a computer with the eye movement), Arteoharming (develops affordable medicines to make them accessible in the areas that need them the most) and Fairchanges (a technological platform that allows the communication and positioning of socially responsible initiatives).
All the examples that we have seen in The Venture Spain are revolutionary ideas that are profitable and generate a positive impacts in the life of people. They provide an authentic breath of fresh air that drives businesses to be better each day.
Due to all of this, we should ask the following question: “If truthfully I want to change the world, what can I do?” Nowadays businesses have a determined role at the time of driving socially responsible projects and changing the environment to make it a better place. This is why it is increasingly more important for entrepreneurs to look for a social purpose which is revealed as the key to businesses present and future.
The projects that have competed in The Venture Spain show that there are many entrepreneurs in our country who could change society, based on providing their talent and creativity to others. Social entrepreneurship is possible in Spain and the real revolution starts by doing good business.
