Carlos Ruiz-Ocaña, director at the ATREVIA Mexico office participated in the Good Corporate Governance Conference celebrated recently in Mexico City. It was opened by Elvira Rodríguez, president of the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), as well as Jaime González Aguadé, president of the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV) in Mexico.
The objectives of these conferences were to debate on the importance of communication in the good corporate governance environment, a space where Carlos Ruiz-Ocaña presented the initiatives carried out by the Good Governance and Shareholding Forum. This project, carried out by ATREVIA and the IESE Business School has the objective of disclosing and enhancing good practices in this field.
During his presentation, Carlos Ruiz-Ocaña highlighted the fact that: “transparency and communication are key elements. We have seen it with the financial crisis: today everything is known. Therefore, if you do not communicate what is happening in your organization, others will and with an approach that is surely not ideal for your strategy. When speaking of Good Governance, your stakeholders and especially your shareholders need to trust you. This happens through honesty and transparency in communication”.
The conferences brought together supervisors and regulators from the countries that are members of the Iberian-American Securities Market Institute (IIMV), positioning themselves as an undeniable reference in meetings within the sector.
