Young people that are integrated into Generation Z (the first digital natives born between 1994 and 2009) have grown up in an environment of labor uncertainty: they have lived in their family circle and they are beginning to experience this as workers of companies. These young people worry that they will not find a job to suit their personality, not having opportunities of personal growth and not reaching their professional goals, according to the report Generation Z: The latest generational gap, elaborated by ATREVIA and the Deusto Business School.
The arrival of this generation to the labor world possesses great challenges for companies. Among these are how to manage talent of new collaborators. On the 28th of June, Isabel Lara, vice-president of ATREVIA, and Iñaki Ortega, professor and director of Deusto Business School will analyze these new challenges in a new conference of the Forum ATREVIA People, which will take place at 9:30 in the Madrid headquarters of the consultancy.
In order to take advantage of the potential of the Young Z’s, the labor market must be transformed if it wants to attract talent, sending a continuous message of challenge and participation, which reject hierarchies. Additionally, different companies must be created and their way into the labor market has already changed selection and recruitment methods. For example, the blind CV is increasingly generalized (it does not include personal details) and the emergence of the collaborative economy in which the Young Z’s are users, entrepreneurs and service providers. Managing this niche will be key in the design of job positions.
The future workers of Generation Z are early entrepreneurs, have a great capacity to network with different cultures and be in positions related to creativity and innovation. Other distinctive features are their skills to hybridize knowledge from different areas and their intellect (they know and understand many fields), as well as their critical spirit and preference for independence within the labor environment.
