Within the framework of Vinculo Solidario that Ayuda en Accion promotes in the Peruvian area of the neighborhoods of Callao (Peru), with the support of ATREVIA, the program “Por una salud de Cine”, has been developed between January and December 2019, which aims at promoting an inclusive society with values, making good use of people’s free time through art, culture, recreation and sport.
Thanks to this initiative, four important campaigns have been able be carried out, which has sought to encourage hygiene and health activities among families in the area, as well as to develop, within this same framework, cultural and educational initiatives outdoors.
The first initiative was set at a sports field in the South Zone, where qualified personnel offered a complete medical consultation service that included various treatments and care as essential as are the controls of the level’s glucose and blood pressure.
The second was held at the Fraternity Park, in the AA. HH. Sarita Colonia, in the area of Ex-Fundo, where a whole team attended 154 people among children and adults, providing them with vaccines and other services of general medicine, screening, cosmetology and mesotherapy.
At the Acapulco AA.HH. free vaccination, blood tests, blood pressure measurement and optometry services were also offered to more than 50 older people.
Lastly, the last initiative was organized at the front of the I.E. José Olaya Balandra, during which care was provided to 150 people who benefited from the medical and hygiene services provided.
Under the protection of this same program, Movie in your Neighborhood also took place, which, through the screening of films, promoted values such as respect, tolerance and empathy towards the Venezuelan migrant population hosted in the community, activating public spaces and strengthening the social fabric to prevent situations of violence.
Thanks to this initiative, more than 280 children from the South Zone and Ex-Fundo del Callao have been able to attend the viewing of up to 8 feature films with a high educational potential, titles such as Up, Super Papa Oso, Jonás or The Great Miracle.
ATREVIA highlighed the explicit support of colleagues in Peru’s offices, which provided, in the basis of a solidarity campaign in Christmas 2018, the funds needed to develop all these activities associated with the project described. Much remains to be done, it is a source of great emotion to be able to communicate the results so rewarding of what are but the first steps of a long and priority road
