Awaken, encourage and particularly maintain enthusiasm to learn is an intense job that all of those who dedicate themselves to teaching strives to achieve every day. In the framework of the Drawing ED Conference, nationals and internationals in the education sector have staged this interesting conference for inspiration, learning and debate in Madrid, in which ATREVIA collaborated as a Media Partner.
Drawing ED Conference is an event organized by the Créate Foundation. It is a non-profit organization whose objective is to investigate, develop and implant methodologies and experimental tools with the education community for its use in the school and other environments related to education. The conference united high status personalities like Eric Finegood, from the NYU Neuroscience and Education Lab, who spoke to us on the self-regulatory capacity of the person, as well as the different resources and strategies to take decisions and managing emotions. Additionally, related to the topic of neuroscience and its connection with education, the lecturer Francisco Mora Teruel, chairperson of Human Physiology from the Complutense University of Madrid and Dr. Manfred Spitzer, director of the University Clinic of Psychiatry at the ULM University presented the latest neuroscientific findings and broke down the key facts on the influence of technology and emotions in learning, as well as explaining how the mind of a child, teenager and adult learns and functions.
For his part, Bruce Homer, director of Research at CREATE – NYU- and Associate Professor of Educational Psychology en The Graduate Center, investigates children’s use and acquisition of cultural tools to store and transmit knowledge and how these transform learning and development processes. There was much anticipation for the speech from Mónica R. Martínez, Presidential Appointee to the Excellence Commission of Education at the White House who explained what consists of Deeper Learning and uncovered initiatives like the XQ Project and #RETHINKHIGHSCHOOL.
These and other issues have been addressed in the Drawing ED Conference, the meeting point for professionals in the world of Education and enthusiasts for daily continuous learning.
