The influence of innovation and the incorporation of new technologies to the service of people as tools to solve problems in different areas of life was the central axis from the 3rd Chile-European Union Forum organized by the Euroamerica Foundation in which ATREVIA Chile participated.
The different speakers discussed the importance of innovation as a motor for development and social inclusion. Alicia Bárcena, executive secretary for the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), highlighted the importance of the union between social insertion and economic dynamism, committed to development and labor implication, not only with social politics. In addition, she emphasized the need to shift away from consumption societies and towards welfare societies, where investment is key.
The sub-secretary of Telecommunications in Chile, Pedro Huichalaf participated who emphasized the role that telecommunications plays in Chile and its importance as motor for development. Nevertheless, he spoke about the need to improve the quality and coverage of high velocity networks to position the country as “a paradise of data that is transformed into the gateway of America”.
Eleonora Rabinovich, Public Policy & Government Affairs Manager at Google, refers to the support given to SME’s and how crucial it is for their growth, along with the investment in broadband infrastructure. In addition, he made an announcement to take into account that social inclusion is done through technology education to grow in development and innovation.
Innovators under 35
ATREVIA Chile has also been part of innovation and today is working together with Opinno in the promotion and the actualization of a new version of Innovators under 35, a competition that was carried out by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at a world level and it will be presented for the second time in Chile. The conference is for young entrepreneurs who want to publicize an innovation project in any area.
MIT recognized young people from all over the world, between those highlighted was the creator of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg. In the organization, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) participated. Proposals will be accepted until the 7th of September.
