Puerto Rico welcomed the 2015 Investment Summit, an event focused on promoting the opportunities which the island offers to entrepreneurs and investors as a Latin-American hub for the United States and investment destination.
The event, organized by the Economic Development and Commerce Department of Puerto Rico (Ministry of Economy), will have the participation of Sebastián Piñera, former Chilean president, Alberto Bacó-Bagué, secretary of the Economic Development and Commerce Department, and Núria Vilanova, ATREVIA president.
From May 18 to 19, this economy Summit provides to governments, investors, entrepreneurs and economy and opinion leaders a space to share ideas and experiences. It will also allow the analyses of big opportunities to create professional and corporate agreements with Latin America and Spain.
Through several conferences on public-private alliances, projects and investment opportunities in the sectors of infrastructures, tourism, production and technology, the main keys to promote the competitiveness of countries are highlighted. The different conferences will detail, among other things, the economic incentives programme of the island.
Thanks to its strategic geographical location, its bilingual work force and high education, advanced infrastructures, global experience and fiscal incentives, Puerto Rico offers real opportunities to the different economies which intend to have access to the USA. So, it is positioned as the entrance gate for Latin-American entrepreneurs to this market seeing that the North-American jurisdiction of the island offers the operational security and stability of a federal jurisdiction.
But aside from the options and advantages of Puerto Rico for the Latin-American market, it offers opportunities as enclave for the Spanish investment which has already favoured big Spanish companies in the island. The opportunities are double: for the North-American market and also for the Latin America countries.
