Latin American Keys is an informative and analytical document regarding the political and economic situation in the Latin American region. This report, prepared monthly by ATREVIA’s Analysis and Research team, serves to be a useful tool in understanding the evolution of the political-institutional state of Latin American, need that the pandemic has further exaggerated.
If 2020 was the year marked by the pandemic and its economic impact, 2021 begins as a year of challenges for Latin America. From 2021 to 2024, the countries in the region will enter a period of high electoral intensity in which all, except Bolivia and Cuba, will go to the polls to renew or ratify their leaders in a context of high polarization and political fragmentation. In addition, there is a heavy social burden aggravated by the economic crisis sparked by the pandemic.
The current events in Latin America this May stem from the tense social climate, the electoral processes, and the new restrictions as a result of the pandemic.
