Recently, La República, one of the most important economic and financial newspapers in Colombia, has published an opinion piece by Núria Vilanova entitled Iberoamerica and Europe: Growing Together, in which she focuses her analysis on the paper by Josep Borrell as Minister of Foreign Affairs, before being appointed High Representative of the European Union’s Foreign Policy. The report deals with the possible strategy for Latin America and the Caribbean, which alludes to the idea of growing and advancing together
“Ibero-American States and companies share the same mission, to promote social and economic progress, the same vision, to adapt to a world without borders that demands new alliances, and the same values, born of the same language and the same culture.
The future of Latin America should be faced as a process of co-creating a common social, economic, investor and cultural space. Moreover, it is important to voice this idea at this moment, one where many Latin American countries face the so-called ‘development traps’, fueled by the discontent generated within democratic regimes, which have been affected by episodes of corruption, lack of transparency and forgetfulness of social demands, and or the uncertainty that bring with them changes such as the digital transformation
Based on their history, Spain and Europe, which have faced major social, economic and integration reforms through the creation of strong institutions, are the best possible allies for Ibero-America to realize its full potential in a global world. We need each other. Distances have to be cut. Governments, companies and society have to take on that attitude to make that process faster and easier
My personal and professional experience could not be more positive. In Atrevia we have been betting on Ibero-America for years and, above all, helping other Spanish companies to walk the same path as us”
