The president and founder of ATREVIA, Núria Vilanova, mediated the debate on Digital Economy in Strategy Spain which is a project whose objective was to analyze the Spanish strategic approach from the political, social and economical point of view of Spain.
Specifically, Núria Vilanova has served as a representative in the round table titled “Spain and the Digital Economy”, where the great experts; Carlos López Blanco (director general of public affairs and regulations at Telefónica), Almudena Román (director general of ING Direct), Amuda Goueli (CEO of Destinia) and Elena Pisonero (president of Hispasat) gave their opinions.
In this interesting forum, they put the important challenges of digital transformation that Spanish companies confront on the table. The digital economy is arriving rapidly and forcefully which means new opportunities and challenges are being raised in Spain. Almudena Román, director general of ING Direct, explained the importance of the change in demand in the market that was driven by leaders who assumed the role of agents of change. The leaders should be the linked between the needs of the consumers and citizens, as well as the opportunities for companies. It is necessary to assimilate new company structures away from the hierarchy to support these leaders.
For his part, Carlos López Blanco (director general of public affairs and regulations of Telefónica), assured that the digital economy is going to determine the global competitiveness of countries, so that it can change political priorities. Likewise, “the digital challenge makes all economies equal in terms of conditions faced by challenges and opportunities, which opens a very wide range of possibilities”, he recalled.
The president of Hispasat, Elena Pisonero stressed the importance of assuming a holistic approach and escaping from excessively relying on categorization, “the digital transformation affects all areas and new players are continuously added (companies, people, consumers and governments). It is why they must construct a collective project, which in reality is complicated. Technology helps us to draw out the most advantages and boost progress, which is what an important concept legacy does to transform what we already have converted into something better”.
Finally, Amuda Goueli (CEO of Destinia) highlighted the need to support a global vision and a multicultural society. “This need drives movement. The crisis has generated more creativity and it has revolutionized companies, governments and the press…. Due to this, we should give value to its responsibility and strength. Nowadays, in a globalised and multicultural world, there are no excuses to learn because the information is on the internet which can be accessed easily by each person”.
