Recently, ATREVIA carried out the presentation of the study “Values and communication in a family business” held in Sao Paulo. It was an event in which the IESE Business School collaborated. Members of family businesses in Brazil, Latin America and European companies with headquarters in Brazil attended the event.
Daniela Agra, director at the office of ATREVIA in Brazil, was in charge of presenting the fundamental key aspects of the study and she shared different examples with the purpose of highlighting the strategic importance of communication in family businesses.
She was assisted by Paulo Vasconcellos, Senior Associate Partner from the Cambridge Family Enterprise Group who highlighted “the crucial importance of good communication within family businesses” and completed his speech with practical tips to help in the day to day running of family businesses.
Following the introduction of the study and the guest speeches, those that attended the event participated in an interesting debate on the most relevant topics for family businesses, such as the process of succession, different ways of identifying members of the family with the potential to assume strategic roles, preparation of the successor and the definition of their functions, as well as other questions like meritocracy and the participation of new additions and friends.
The study “Values and communication in a family business” extracts conclusions while analyzing the role of communication in the area of the company being linked to the family. It is a document published by ATREVIA and the Chairperson for Family Business at the IESE Business School.
