A large group of business people reunited in the headquarters of the Business Association in Valencia (AVE) to debate on the challenges that family businesses confront in Valencia in order to improve their competitiveness in different markets. This meeting was driven by the Family Businesses Chair in the University of Valencia which is an exchange platform of knowledge between members of the academic community (UV), business people and professionals that work in the area of family businesses in Valencia (AVE; EDEM; IVEFA) and national and supranational organizations specialized in the study of family businesses (IEF).
Núria Vilanova, founder and president at ATREVIA and coauthor in collaboration with the IESE Business School of the study Values and communication in family businesses, participated in the event and recalled that the transmission of essential values of companies to the following generation of brands, to a large degree, helps with the sustainability of business projects.
Therefore, she analyzed the importance of development and the drive of family businesses that allows the support of a higher added value Valencia, as part of a strategy of dialogue and cooperation. Given the role of family businesses in the business network of Valencia, they must face the same challenges as all non-family businesses. This means, among other things, successfully managing the involvement of all the people in the strategy and the corporate objectives, as well as establishing different tools that allow them to operate as a more competitive brand around their values.
The Family Businesses Chair in the University of Valencia (CEF-UV) was created in 2006, driven by the Business Association in Valencia (AVE), Business School (EDEM), Family Business Institute (IEF) and the Institute for the Study of the Family Business in Valencia (IVEFA) and it is sponsored by Bankia and Broseta.
