Javier Medrano, the director of our newly opened office in Guatemala, was interviewed by Guatemala’s El Periódico. It is a newspaper specialized in the Journalism of research and the most important aspects of culture in the country.
In a full page interview in the Guatemalan newspaper, Javier explained the motives that ATREVIA has to aim to meet the demand for Communication in Capital Letters in Guatemala: “Guatemala is a very attractive place. Not only for the fact of closeness with the British market but because we have some advantages like the large labor force in the area of technology, big companies with central headquarters here and the Guaetmalan service quality, compared to the rest of the countries in the region”. In addition, before the question of future expansion plans of the company, he explained: “We cover all of Central America from Guatemala. The number one priority is El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua (…) We are a holistic and strategic agency. We are in the area of public relations, positioning, creativity, digital strategy, research, internal communication, marketplace, public affairs, crisis, events, etc”.
Likewise, Javier Medrano wanted to highlight the concept of country branding, which is occupying a new space in the area every day: “We are making approaches and the objective is being able to collaborate in this process. Also in Guatemala we are seeing some institutions with in which we could collaborate”. In this way, the management of crisis communication in the Central American country is another pending issue that, in his opinion should have immediate priority: “By nature, our countries have a high level of conflict. Topics such as mining or the banking sector are an opportunity for us because we have a very robust team that gives us the profile of collaborative processes of facing such crises. When companies reach an impromptu community, then problems arise. When this happens, companies fail to anticipate and address it. We are very committed to this line of business”.
Finally, our director in the office in Guatemala has listed the reasons why ATREVIA has the ability to help companies to iron out their weaknesses: “It takes planning, crises succeed when you are not prepared or you have not developed a well structured plan in front of any possibility (…) There must be more time invested in planning and anticipating eventualities. If something is going to happen because you are very exposed, the impact will be minimum. We have the capacity to manage a crisis”.
